Navigating friendships requires more than just "being nice"—it requires managing internal emotions and reading external cues. This group targets the foundational skills needed to build and maintain meaningful connections with peers and adults. These groups are held 60 minutes per week typically split into two 30 minute sessions.
What We Focus On:
Self-Regulation: Identifying personal "triggers" in social settings and using sensory or cognitive strategies to stay calm when a peer interaction doesn't go as planned.
Coping Skills for Social Friction: Learning how to handle rejection, "joking" and compromise.
Dynamic Communication: Moving beyond basic scripts to practice active listening, perspective-taking, and "social flexibility" (going with the flow).
Conflict Resolution: A step-by-step framework for expressing resolving conflict with peers and adults.
